Anniston, Alabama (WLJS) -- An Anniston couple has been charged with capital murder in connection with an 89-year-old woman found stabbed to death inside her Wellborn home Wednesday morning, WLJS news anchor Ed Moore III has learned.
According to Anniston police Captain Allen George, 32-year-old Walter Craig Pinkston and 30-year-old Monica Marie Shively, both of Anniston, have been charged with capital murder in the death of Alma Fleming.
Fleming, who was pronounced dead at 11:30 am Wednesday morning at her home, located on 525 South Stebbins Street, lived by herself, according to sources.
Investigators say the couple knew Fleming because they helped her with household chores and that physical evidence connected the two with the crime.
Both Pinkston and Shively were arrested in Jacksonville Wednesday night.
